The Prince of This World

The Prince of this World is just one of the many names for Satan in scriptures.

 Other names include:

The Evil One
The Enemy
The god of this Age
The Father of Lies

These names tell us exactly who and what Satan is.

He is the Prince of this World---he influences governments and nations and their leaders.

He is the Evil One, everything he purposes to do is evil.

He is the Enemy of us and of God and he seeks to destroy us.

He is the god of this Age---and many of us worship him.  We may not be involved in the occult and consider ourselves "devil worshipers" but think about it, we worship money, power, celebrities, athletes, even ourselves.  We may as well worship Satan.

He is the Father of lies.  Here are just some of the lies Satan tells that become popular in our culture:

1. All people are basically good
2. Its just a piece of tissue
3. If it feels good--do it
4. Carpe Diem---"Seize the Day" for tomorrow we die
5. All paths lead to God
6. He whispers in our ears, "You're not good enough for God.  You have screwed up so badly how can God ever love you, or forgive you".

Satan easily spot our weakness.
And he can make sin appear attractive to us, even irresistible.

Are we insecure?  Satan can feed on that and tell us lies to make us more insecure, depressed, even suicidal.

Are we jealous?  Satan can make our envy grow to the point of hatred.

Do we worship money?  Satan can delude us into cheating and conspiring for more.

Do we crave attention?  Satan can guide us into acting out, divulging in bad behaviors like drugs or sex to help us gain popularity.

Satan knows how to get inside our head and strengthen our weakness to self destruction and lead us away from God.

The only way to combat him is to arm ourselves with God's Words.

We are stronger when we surround ourselves with other believers.

This is one reason Church is so important.

Being a part of a Christian family can help us to keep Satan at bay.

This is why reading the Bible and knowing and understanding God's Word is so important.
There really is a spiritual warfare out there and if we are not properly equipped and ready for this battle we will surely be lost.

This why Paul warns us in  Ephesians 6:10-18 about putting on The Armor of God:

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
13 Therefore put on the full armor of God,so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,
15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
