He is Risen!

Many of us are celebrating Easter today.  Some of us are celebrating the Resurrection.  There is such a greater meaning to this day than Easter Eggs and Bunnies!   This is the day that Christ is arose from the dead.  tells the story:
On the third day, a Sunday, several women (Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, Joanna and Salome are all mentioned in the gospel accounts) went to the tomb at dawn to anoint the body of Jesus.
A violent earthquake took place as an angel from heaven rolled back the stone. The guards shook in fear as the angel, dressed in bright white, sat upon the stone. The angel announced to the women that Jesus who was crucified was no longer in the tomb, "He is risen, just as he said." Then he instructed the women to inspect the tomb and see for themselves. Next he told them to go inform the disciples.
With a mixture of fear and joy they ran to obey the angel's command, but suddenly Jesus met them on their way. They fell at his feet and worshiped him. Jesus then said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go tell my brothers to go to Galilee. There they will see me."
When the guards reported what had happened to the chief priests, they bribed the soldiers with a large sum of money, telling them to lie and say that the disciples had stolen the body in the night.
The Resurrection is so very important, it is the central component to Christianity!    The Resurrection tells us three things:
1.  God is sovereign---over Life (he has created) and Death (he has conquered)  Those who saw Jesus after His Resurrection witnessed the great power of God.
2.  The Resurrection proves to us that we too, can "live" after death.    He promises us, that all who believe, all who accept Jesus as their savior, all that follow Him, will have eternal life.
3. In 1 Corinthians 15, Paul explains the disastrous consequences if there were no resurrection--1) preaching Christ would be senseless (v. 14); 2) faith in Christ would be useless (v. 14); 3) all the witnesses and preachers of the resurrection would be liars (v. 15); 4) no one would be redeemed from sin (v. 17); 5) all former believers would have perished (v.18); and 6) Christians would be the most pitiable people on the earth (v. 19).

Jesus appears many times to many people over the next 40 days before he Ascends to Heaven.  I hope you have enjoyed this series of postings and I hope you are encouraged to go to the Bible and learn more!

  1. I have extremely enjoyed learning much about Jesus and the true meaning of Easter! I didn't know much before about Easter, but I did know that it wasn't all about Peeps, plastic eggs, and a giant bunny who breaks into your house in the middle of the night.

Is it okay, if, on the guest post, I just post about traditions and meaning of Passover?

  2. That's exactly what I wanted! =)
