At Church we were invited to write a Devotional and submit it for publication by the Church, for our Church.
So I am going to give it a try, here is what I am submitting: (The Format is the same as "The Upper Room")
Title: Keeping Faith
Scripture Reference: Proverbs 3:5
Quote from Scripture: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding"
Why? It is not just small children that ask this question. We all struggle to understand why. Why do bad things happen? The latest cry of "Why" came on December 15, 2012 as evil swept its way through an elementary school killing twenty small children and six adults. We struggle...I struggle...with this thought. I try so hard to understand, to rationalize irrational, evil behavior. This leads to frustration, then to doubt. In my grief and frustration to understand "Why" I start to loose my trust, my faith, in God. How can there be any possible good in something so evil? At the height of my frustrations and grief, I look upon Proverbs 3:5 to remind me, I am not expected to understand. I am expected to trust in God. And I do. I trust in Him, to have a bigger, greater plan. It is simply not for me to know, and that is okay.
Your Name: Tiggerkat
Prayer: Dear Father in heaven, thank you for reminding me that your plan is bigger, greater, than I can understand, and that your plan is good and just.
Thought for the Day: Can you give up your desires to understand the evil in this world and Trust God?
Prayer Focus: For those who are troubled with "Why"
